Creating interactive digital experiences

I am beyond impressed with the flexibility. We can be responsive to our customer's evolving requirements. The bounds of Datomic are so far away that I have not found them yet.

Chris Jones — The Brigade

The Brigade creates interactive digital experiences for major brands including Intel and Spotify. The company specializes in custom web application development, handling strategy, design, back-end architecture, and social promotion.

The Challenge: Evolving Requirements

The Brigade built Resonate, a social music application for Spotify that captures listener habits and compares musical tastes among people in the same work environment. As customer requirements evolved during development, the team faced a critical decision: meeting needs would have been costly using only DynamoDB’s MapReduce jobs or deploying a traditional SQL database.

Datomic added to DynamoDB was the only option that didn’t force us to sacrifice features or add the expense of developer time.

With Datomic’s flexible schema, the team could adapt to changing requirements without sacrificing features or escalating costs.

DynamoDB + Datomic: The Best of All Worlds

By combining DynamoDB’s deployment simplicity with Datomic’s flexible schemas and robust query capabilities, The Brigade gained the advantages of both NoSQL and SQL systems. This approach accelerated time to market and enabled responsiveness to customer needs while maintaining scalability as the user base grew.
